hey guys, hopefully somone can answer this really fast for me. but i just got done building a new desktop and the MOBO only had one IDE port on it and its being used up by the HD. but it has for SATA ports built in. so instead of buying all new dvd drives that are SATA ready, i just got some IDE to SATA adapters, and my computer will not recognize the drives at all. i dont not understand what i am doing wrong to keep this from working, but obviously there is something that i need to do and havent done yet. they claim to be PnP, just slide the IDE part into the drive, plug the SATA cable into the adapter and plug the other end into the MOBO's SATA port, and power the adapter up with the 4 pin power lead adapter and it should work. but it doesnt, so now im screwed becuase i wanted this computer done today, and that doesnt look like its going to happen. so any assistance at all on this subject would be greatly appreciated.
thanks guys
chris

one of the drives is set to master, the other two are set to slave, i never thought about taking the jumpers out, ill try that in a second. i got them off of ebay because i worked out a good deal (i thought) with the seller, but now it seems i got ripped off, lol. heres a link to the auction.

if you try all the jumper settings, m, s, and cs and youve tried it without and it still doesnt work i would guess it is a problem with your bios.
in your bios make sure all the hds are set to auto detect, disable all raid funtions and set the satas to ide mode instead of raid

ok, so im sitting here looking at the bios menu and raid is disabled, but all of the sata ports are grayed out....but its showing a raid next to them, and enabled. also the Serial-ATA controller is set to all enabled, and the IDe prefetch mode is also enabled. other than that, i dont know what else to say.

thats why i cant find it, im looking at the uk site and we cant get this board.
i am at a loss as to what to say. the manual doesnt say much about your bios settings other than all the overclocking features(nice board by the way looks like you will get a massive overclock with this mobo, the right ram and some good cooling). i still think that the option is in the bios somewhere but from that i cant point you to it.
the only alternative i can think of is get an usb external encosure and put the hdd in that and then you can dissconnect it when your not using it.
sorry dude,
best of luck, phil

wlel thanks for all the help. fotunatly i have a PCI card that has an IDE plug on it, so the drives are running off of that as of right now, but ill have to unhook the drives when i go to flash my 360. kind a back-a$$-ward way of doing it, but it gets the job done none-the-less.
