I have search the forum (down to about 10 pages but could not find anything - so sorry if I am asking something that has already been asked.
What is the best way to do it, shall I upgrade first to a higher firmware and then downgrade, or it there a way to do it from 2.0.1?
Apolozise in advance, I am a complete non-tech guy so whatever the solution could you attached the right link where I could get the file with some easy to follow instructions. In advance many thanks

Dibz, thanks for the reply, I can't see no writing on the corner of the MOBO when I open the UMD drive, so I take it that it is not a version TA-082 and it is ok to go ahead.
You have said "(doesnt matter if you are actually in the US or not)", but it says the contrary on the download page- shall i ignore it then.
I have managed to get the versiojn 2.6 upgrade for PSP, shall I install this one instead, would the downgrader still work with 2.6?
Thanks in advance

you can upgrade to 2.60 if you want but you have to have GTA UMD unpatched to downgrade from 2.60, most people dont have it thats why i suggested 2.71 as you dont need anything for that 1 :)

sorry man, you can use this if you want! but i know its known for most people to upgrade to 2.60/2.71 and then downgrade, and thats what i did and dont know about that 1 personally, and dont want anyone bricking their psp! :)

yeah i know what you mean but i think its just like any downgrader,it has chances of bricking.
@jeannot18 to upgrade, make a folder in the game directory called UPDATE must be caps and place the update eboot in there, then start your psp goto game ,memory stick and you should see it

Steven, thanks again.
I have found a sticky post and downloaded Devhook 0.46 FULL, and USBHOSTFS,
the guide says:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
AND overwrite the files onto your memory stick's root.
Does this mean the zipped or unzipped files?
------------------------------------------------------------------
2)Unzip the files after they are downloaded.
So from the memory stick's root folder?
-----------------------------------------------------------------
3)Enable USB and backup all the files on your memory stck and format your memory card.
[i]I am a bit lost there, backup all the files from my memory stick onto my PC, and then format memory stick? So I will lose all files, what is the point of that?
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Can we go over those 3 first steps that I find a bit confusing
Thanks for any help

ok format your memory card and download this http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/673 ,run the program choose install devhook 0.46 with 2.71 firmware.
once that has finished place your iso games in the iso folder of your memory card.
start your psp up goto game, memory stick find devhook run that, then choose your iso and start it up.

Thanks Steven. Just one more thing, you said "run the program choose install devhook 0.46 with 2.71 firmware" the 2.71 firmware does nto apply to the PSP firmware? Does it? Because I am running 1.5 now, sorry to be so thick about it.

ok what devhook does is emulate 2.71 firmware, sorta making your psp think its a 2.71 when its a 1.5,you need to use devhook to emulate 2.71 so all your iso games play.
