I am in the process of copying my home video tapes (VHS) to DVD. I have a DVD recorder hooked into my VHS player and am just straight dumping them... warts and all!
What I then want to do is to grab clips from the DVD, edit/shuffle etc etc and generally tidy up and then write out to DVD again. I currently have Arcsoft Showbiz DVD for this latter task.
What I don't know how to do is to grab the clips off the DVDs. Any suggestions/advice gratefully received.
(PS Suspect this is probably covered elsewhere but my search threw up nothing... then again, not sure how good I am with the search function...)
If you have a computer involved anywhere in the mix, which you apparently do, then you'd be best to use the computer to do your original recording, and save as much quality as possible, even if this may mean buying a cheap video capture device. Every step loses quality, 1. VHS to dvd 2. dvd to pc data 3. edit pc data 4. encode to dvd format 5. burn to dvd. If this is not an option however then you'd be best to search thru dvd to AVI conversion tools. (as I've not done this particular conversion I don't know personally what's best but they have a list here http://www.videohelp.com/tools?toolsearc...h+or+List+tools ) Then use a video editor to edit the resultant AVI, once again don't know personally as I'm not an AVI editor either, but here's another list for that http://www.videohelp.com/tools?toolsearc...h+or+List+tools From there then you can burn your DVD, hopefully my answer didn't get too longwinded for you.
