Hi there. I have downloaded a movie that that doesn´t work. It says that can't support the codec or the file type. I used GSpot and detected the codecs missing (MPEG-4 AAC LC and mp4v) so I installed FFDShow because a lot of sites were recommending it for this problem. Still it doesn't work... Does anyone know anything else I can do?

Hi,

Try installing the K-Lite mega codec pack and see if it will recognize the file.

I downloaded K-Lite codec pack and it worked wonderfully. Thank you for the advice.

Just my uninvited 2 cents:

I had a lot of problems with the KL pack, so I tried Ace's pack, which are generally the 2 most recommended packs, but still had some nasty issues. Long story short, they aren't friendly packs, and often install several things to handle the same format, and they don't always play nice.

This round I've only installed FFDShow, and so far--it kicks ass, and has a much smaller format. Not quite as noob friendly, but it gives you a really nice taskbar interface while media is playing and whatnot. You can google it for find it @ sourceforge.
