will it be possible to play burned ps2 games on the ps3 via swap magic or any alternative? also, i saw that an xbox 360 was hacked, does anyone see this happening to the ps3 some time after it comes out

Something will eventually come along but it won't be a 6 month spurt, since they use Blu-ray drives the teams that hacked the 360 and plan on PS3 will have one hell of a time due to a fuckload of more protections and high cost.

Yeah but I thought they were letting the PS3 be open to homebrew programs right out of the box? Wouldn't that make it pretty easy for playing backups and running apps?

They probably wouldn't do that as would encourage people to just have backup games and no originals. You'll have to wait for a moodchip to come out.

I expect someone to figure out a way to play PS2 backups on the PS3 fairly quickly,but it will be a long time before we can play PS3 backups.

I think they will cause it comez with hard drive. Someone will find a way to hack it maybe a modchip or maybe a boot disk.
About backin up Da gamez are blue ray dvds which meanz blue ray dvd burners are already in da market and blue ray DVD-R. Now just gotta waitt untill da prices comez down ...
