I just recently bought Socom 3-US Navy Sealst to play online. The problem is that I have a modchip (Crystal Chip 1.1 with Bootmanager 2.0 and hacked firmware 24). Whenever I boot the game in enhanced mode, the ps2 can connect to the internet fine, download update, but at the end I get a warning that I'm using a cheat device and that I'm banned for three hours. So, I tried and disabling the chip and putting it in sleep mode, but now my ps2 (v12 slim) can't even connect to the internet!? Did I waste my money?

Regardless of whether you could connect online or not, you still wasted your money! Socom 3 is the biggest pile of steaming cack ever!
Take it back, you'll be grateful you did.

socom 3 isnt crap.okay.and you didnt waste your money.original games require for the modchip to be off to play online.ask around on afterdawn forums how to turn your modchip into sleep mode.your welcome ;) by the way ace1uk socom is amazing in the NTSC region so just because you live in europe doesnt mean it sucks in north america.stop driving on the wrong side of the road.LOL :P

It is crap, and I played it on the US servers when it 1st came out, as well as playing it on PAL servers.
So I'm far more qualified to state if its crap or not.
Socom 3 is the biggest sell-out of a gaming franchise in gaming history. Sony/Zipper got greedy & f**ked up a perfectly good game, knowing it'd sell regardless of it's quality.

i love socom 3 its great... your are just probably mad ace because you got quick sniped every game... but yea socom 3.5 is coming out soon i can't wait... be on the look out for socom-lex..(yes i know its not called 3.5) but yea they could have made it alitle bit better but u know... its all good... the money made goes to the new socom 4 for ps3.. and all that good stuff.. and to keep sony in buisness..
