I currently use Verbatim DVD's. In the past I have tried Office Depot's brand and I can't get my Plextor PX 716-A to recognize them. I can't always get hold of Verbatim discs and I am curious is there any other brand that anyone can suggest (Sony, Fuji, Memorex, etc...). Thanks

Verbatim are a great make, not surprised you have had no probslems with them. However Office Depot brand disks tend to be rubbish.
Ohter disks you can get are Taiyo Yuden; very good disks, the best you can get. Also, Sony MIJ's and Fuji MIJ's (MIJ = Made in Japan), disks are very good as they are actually Taiyo Yuden disks! I think this only applies to the 8x disks though.
If you get Taiyo Yuden 8x disks when buying Sony or whatever it will code as TYG02 or YUDEN000T02 (dvd -r and dvd +r).

Keep using those Verbs. If blank DVDs had Olympics, Verbatims are silver medalists compaired to the Taiyo Yuden gold medalists.

I go along with ripper with the Made in Japan sony media. Also I'll throw in Hitach maxells-which would be the Made in Japan maxells.

Office depot media is pretty decent. I've gotten Ritek-R03 on over 800 of the +8x and Ritek-P16 and Ricohjpn-R03 on the +16x.

Likely firmware issue. A simple update to version 1.10 should take care of that, especially if you switched from 8x and got the 16x OD media.

Ah yes can't forget Maxwell MIJ's! And as for Office Depot media I haven't used it myself as I live in UK but i know what it codes as, which I thought was all Ritek (which I am not keen on using) hence my comment about being rubbish. However, I can vouch for RichohJPN003 media as I have some myself and has been as reliable as any other media.
