Playstation not reading DVD-R

My playstation 2 which I got early 2001 is still working today. When I tried backing up a playstation 2 game on a DVD-R disc, the playstation said disc read error. I think that the problem is the dvd that i put the iso file onto. What specs of a DVD-R or which DVD-R do I need so that it will work in my rusty old ps2?

...well bro...what are you using to read the dvd-r's on the ps2. a mod-chip or swap magic cd? because if u are just putting the backup dvd-r's in it without these items, then it wont be able to read the disc itself, sry

No. You need EITHER, a modchip OR Swap Magic with a swap method like fliptop, slide card or magic keys (depending on PS2 version)
