Hi my Samsung 40 inch lcd tv keeps making a low humm sound at high volumes when showing signal from HDMI, COMPOSITE, AND COMPONENT inputs. it gets pretty annoying... is there anything i could to to reduce the humming?

Also any tips on how to make normal tv picture look less blocky and pixelated?

Thanks!

Damn, I recently purchased 1 of the new style Samsung LCD's I hope I don't experience any of the problems I have heard mentioned in the forum (humming or blocky images). So far so good. It does state in my manual tho that if you're just watching the news or u have the TV on as background noise 2 keep it in standard mode & you most probably should turn off your TV whenever not using it. I guess this is pretty much common sense but it is also something which some people overlook!?

A low hum is a pssible sign of electrical problems, usually a nad ground. If the plug for your TV is 3-prong, make sure it is plugged into a 3-prong outlet or ask an electrician about grounding. It could also be a loose 120 VAC contact. Either way, it's bad news.

It could also be just interference from the 120 VAC line. Try plugging the TV into line filter - e.g., an Uninterruptable Power Supply. The UPS doesn't need to modern, if you have an old one lying around with a dead battery, it will still work. IF it doesn't clear up, it's probably an electrical problem or something specific to the TV.

-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.
