it will not sound as good as tracks recorded in 5.1, nor will it be true 5.1 surround, but you can do it. I have done it many times with graph edit or cubase. You need the ambisonic vst effects or the "v" effect. Check out doom 9.net on stereo to 5.1 upsampling.

you need the following apps

adobe audition and surcode DTS

very time consuming but worth it in the end

Please explain.... surcode needs six individual waves, one for each speaker. How does audition give you this from a two channel source??? And if it does, how are each channels different from the two channel source? With graph edit or cubase the two channel source can be run through a prologic activex filter or vst which outputs a 5.1 channel file or 6 individual waves. Each one is different not simply multiple stereo files. Can audition do the same thing????

with adobe audition you create 5 seperate wav files in a multitrck session one for each channel then on the top toolbar select view/ multichannel encoder and adjust the parameters for each channel....fl, fr, cntr+lfe, ls, rs, also adjust the master level to -3db then name your file & where you want to save it, then click EXPORT and select the tab EXPORT AS SIX INDIVIDUAL WAV FILES.

The files are then ready to be imported into surecode DTS

Ah I realise now that I wasn't specific enough in my 1st post.

I'm looking to upmix my stereo input from my game consoles up to 5.1, so upmix it bascially on the fly.

Any software to do this?
There is nothing with my sound card's software.
