Need Help Copying a Hard Drive

Ok. So i bought this new hard drive and i want to copy (everything) over to the new one...i have the software to do this, but i want to know one thing. Will the old hard drive still work even if i copy all of its contents? Any info will be appreciated! Thanks a bunch!

yeah the old hd will work unless u format it, a good program to copy hd is norton ghost
