hey guys, i have a lite-on "sohw-1693s" and i went update the fw on it this afternoon, and it locked up in the middle of it. so now it doesnt even work at all. when its hooked up to the computer it will not allow it to boot at all. but as soon as i unplug it (external drive) it boots into windows perfectly. is there anything i can do to fix this, or am i tough out of luck?
thanks

ps. also when i go to use my pioneer 111d with either copy to dvd, or clone dvd it will not let me burn it. it keeps coming up saying that the media is bad, and try another brand. when the drive was being used on my old computer it would work perfectly fine. now with this new computer it wont. so if you could help with this also, i would appreciate it.
current medias being used are memorex dvd+rs and sony dvd+rs

Hmmm it seems that you have killed your lite on drive. A bad flash can result in this and there's nothing you can do about it...

As for you pioneer, that is a good drive. You can update your firmware for that here...

Make sure you get the right firmware. Run Nero Info tool (downloadable on Afterdawn) to find out what firmware you have at present and then update accordingly.

As for media, Memorex are useless media. Stay away from it! Sony are good but you might want to try using other disks. I recommend Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim.

Cool, this is the Lite on firmware
http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2056

And OEM means if you bought the drive separate from your computer and it didn't come with any papers etc, just the bare bones of drive. If it comes with all the software etc then it is retail.

You needn't worry about that.
