Hey ive searched endlessly. I have a SMC VBR router, follow portforward, searched AD too. But I can not open the port I told uTorrent to use. I opened it in the router settings, and on the windows firewall exceptions. Does anyone have any advice?

Do you have a static IP? No point in trying to forward a port without having a static IP. If you do but still cant figure it out, follow the guide at http://www.portforward.com/ for your router.

A static ip is an ip that stays the same. By default, your ip is probably dynamic, meaning every so often, say when you restart your comp or 12 hours, the ip is reassigned. This means any port that was forwarded for that ip isnt valid anymore, since your local ip has changed. Making a static ip is easy as all hell, and will relieve you of the headache im sure you are having. Just check out that site, choose your router make/model, the app you are wanting to this for, then it will clearly explain the process, its very simple. Let me know how it goes :)
EDIT
Just saw your eidt...is the dht light green in utorrent? If it is, the port is forwarded properly, and your ISP just is slow upstream. If not, make sure you have a static IP, choose another port, forward it through the router, and change the utorrent/client of your choice to reflect the change in port.

well i edited all this out because I figured it out. I put in the IP for the router, not the outside one. Or well I dunno what it is. The browser IP I put in to get the router settings, I thought that was it, well i changed it to the one in the cmd ipconfig /all and it says its open. THanks.
but upload speeds still horrible.

Yeah thats your local ip...i.e 192.168.x.xxx Yeah you have to enter that in your browser and forward ports through it or you will nothing will cahnge. Sounds like you just have a very limited upstream, most people do. Anyways, glad its worked out.

you also need to make sure that you upstream is not maxed out, You need to set it so that it never use more then 75-80% of your upstream bandwidth. it will make everything else that you do extremely slow, and in sort of a snowball effect, the other applications that are running slow bog down your system and make utorrent even slower.
also regarding dynamic IP's when you are assigned an IP via DHCP you get a lease time on the IP, typically something like 5 or 7 days, and in some corporate settings 1 or 2 days. typically the Router keeps the IP assigned to you MAC address for 50% of the lease time, so if the lease was for 7 days, you would have to not be connected for 3.5 days before it gives you IP address away. If you never disconnect your computer from the network, you would retain the same IP until something was forcibly reset on the network.

if you are using utorrent there is a setting for bandwith if you right click on utorrent in the systray and you see upload speed you can raise or lower the bandwith i have mine on unlimited, but if i surf the net i put it on 25kbs, i am on a 3mg dn and 512kbs up, also if you get on a site that has a private tracker your speeds will be great, hope that helps have a nice day

You can check your max upload, as well as your max download by taking a speed test. My favorite one that I use is the speakeasy test:
http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/
Make sure you have no activity on your connection for a couple of minutes before you take the test to get the best results.

Take 80% of that and enter it for your max upload speed in Utorrent.

thanks svstang but while im trying to seed to black cats and everyone says they get 20 to 60 kbs up while im still only getting under 10. It makes me mad as they will ban anyone under the limit or 1.00 sahre ratio or at least give them warnings.
update, this is really getting to me. There are 19 peers and im getting .1 kbs upload. this is rediculious.
i hate to be the noob but i am trying to help other people to not just download and run.
