Need help getting SMS to read discs

Here's my situation: I have the memory card exploit installed already, with the sms, cdloader, and cogswap .elf's on the memory card. I DO NOT have a network adapter, so I don't have a hard drive. I have an AVI file on a cd with nothing else on it. How do I get sms to read this cd so I can play it? I've tried swapping it with my trigger PSX disc a few times, but it hasnt worked. Every time the PS2 finishes reading it, sms says something along the lines of "Illegal Disc". Is there any way that I am able to boot the cd as is, or am I going to have to master a PS2 cd/dvd with sms every time I want to burn an AVI to play on my PS2?

i was wondering the same thing... can SMC even boot cd's or do u need an hardrive or some sort of internet streaming from the pc ....
