After I run my avi through GSpot I have the following error. Can anyone help me:
Directshow was unable to render this file.
Following is the error reported:
0x00040242: VFW_S_PARTIAL_RENDER -Some of the streams in this movie are in an usupported format.

I have installed the AC3 codec, the video is fine, but there is no sound.

did you use DVD2AVI ? i think latest version is buggy? they say go back a version!

Thanks for the reply. No, this was a movie I downloaded from the internet. I haven't done any thing expect try to play the file and I noticed there was no sound. That was when I used GSpot becuase I thought I had the wrong codecs. It possible the originator of the file used DVD2AVI. That could be the problem. I was hoping there was something else I could do before I trash the file.

If you open the file in VirtualDub, you can go to "properties" under the file tab to see what the audio is.
