Use IMGBurn in build mode to create an ISO from the directories (folders) on the disk.
This can then be burnt to a new disk in future, using write mode.

Is this proven to work? or are you just going on "Maybe this will work" theory?

Put it this way. I used IMGBurn to back up my PC games and then run the ISO's off virtual drives - so i know the ISO build works.
So burning it presumably works. That's common sense IMHO.

Yep, works just as it would any other method. A little easier as to newbies creating handling image files could be a little more harder, especially when they associate them with WinRAR. Nice one Ripper.

What games are you creating with IMGBurn and whats the copy protection of them. And also, are you using IMGBurn to burn the disc?

If that question was at me....then I back up Age of Empires 3 with IMGBurn and, as I said before I hadn't burnt with IMGBurn. As for copy protection, I didn't come across any errors etc...

If that question was @ Neroboy then sorry for the misunderstanding.

Yes the question was torward you -Ripper- Empires 3 has next to no protection so I guess that wouldn't be a good example with backing up a PC game. The REAL test is with a protection based game as I KNOW IMGBurn WILL FAIL with building mode.

Ok, so maybe it doesn't work for all PC games. And I realise that Empires has no protection...but in the same way that all programs don't work for all Dvd's.

I was merely suggesting something that had worked for me...no need to get all aggravated about it. If you are not happy that he tries IMGBurn for his games, then why don't you suggest another program he might try?

I look forward to hearing of more programs from you geestar...

Doesen't really matter anyway, because none of you have pointed out the most important thing.

Without a crack, the game won't even play! (With most games)

Whey! (4 gold stars to me)

I might sound like i was aggraveated but I guess thats the way it sounds in text so lets not argue about this program or that prgram or how the best way to make a PC game backup :).

There are only few programs that can make backups of PC games but with todays new protections you will need third party applications.

Alcohol 120% used to be the program that was ahead of its class in every form but they have seem to have fallen behind the "PC backup" game. But all in all AL120% is still my favorite since you can select your "Datatype" protection that the game has and also comes with virtual drives. With this app you have total control.

Another app is Clonecd but not many options to choose from and is not compliant with Securom protections (in my dealings) but geard torwards more of Safedisc protections.

To detect the type of protection the PC game has, I would suggest Aray Scanner but is longer supported (that I know of but still a kickass proggy)

To find the third party apps I would also suggest gameburnworld.com

This site has all the goodies you need to run your backups that seem to get scratched, lost or just the good ol' beat downs.

If you still have questions feel free to ask away.
