Hi guys

Got pipex recently, the PMAX package.

Speeds are total rubbish, done a bit of research into p2p, i've tried various apps, limewire, emule, winmx, torrents etc.

Somehow I can only pull in 20kb/s, which sucks.

I have a Netgear DG834GT router, all ports opened etc, router connects @ 5mb or there abouts.

Has anyone got any suggestions on how to get the speed increased.

i've done numerous online speed tests and all come up as very good speeds.

Please Help.

if you use BitTornado which i recommend and i like their should be a connection speed setting within it as well as all the others IE. limewire

I have been through all the settings, and they all set to receive good speeds.

All the apps i've tried are configured as they should be.

drop the p2p shit use utorrent. set it to forced protocol encryption and dont tick the allow incoming legacy connections(in the prefferances).

pipex throttle traffic if they think its p2p or torrents but they cant tell if you do this.

check the guides im sure theres one in there for utorrent.

have you tried it without the router? and ifso how where the speeds then?

got to be honest routers arent my thing but i no some one i can ask and i will get back to you after.

this is what he said,

Go into your router settings and remove your firewall rules and delete the service.
Recreate the rules with the ports you want forwarding.
Restart your bittorrent client.

In my case this has worked and had no following problems.

The theory behind this doesn't make any sense because in effect you aren't doing anything, yet it has worked for me twice on different hardware. Think of it this way, if your ports a forwarded correctly and you are still getting problems where is the theory in that?
It may be that the router gets lost with all the traffic and forgets to allow access. When the rules are replaced its like a kick up the ass. Well thats my theory anyway.
