Lately I have been having this reoccurring problem. Every month I erase recorded programs that I no longer need just to keep things clean. In doing so I sometimes do a defrag to keep the drive humming. But the last few times I do this the process stalls and then locks up the machine. I have to physically unplug and then restart. But after this I lose recorded programs. They basically appear as black icons in the menu. When I access them, nothing. This is really frustrating as these are usually programs I am attempting to record onto DVD (which I haven't been able to do using the correct DVD disks, another issue). I have had this machine for a year and a half and am very disappointed with it. Audio on recorded programs is very noisy. I've done all of the firmware updates. Still not please with this machine.

If people ask me about this machine I would advice them to look somewhere else.
