Running the autoupdate from Creative's site fixed the issue for me. There is a thread referencing this issue but I could not add to it.

One of the cousins of my wife had this machine and the hard drive failed. Everything else was a breeze except for this Multimedia Auido Controller. I was about ready to give up on it!
