I want to try to create my own gaming surface for my optical mouse because I am a cheap person :p. I don't know too much about what they're made out of, so if anybody knows anything that can help me out it would be really appreciated! Also, if you guys know any materials that work well with optical mice that can be found in stores, please do tell me. Thanks!

you would want something with a slick surface. Praetor (a mod here at aD who has been gone for a long time) I believe sprayed teflon spray over the whole surface of his desk to create his "mouse pad" surface.

depending on the table top material, you don't need a mouse pad for ball or optical mice.

very true ddp. I use a couple of mice. I love my MX518 (actually have 2). On my AMD rig I use the Razer Exact mat, the mouse moves extremely fast on it. For my dell, I just use the table.

Also, I tried the Logitech G5 and it didn't work at all on the exact mat (but worked fine if I just used the table).

If your trying to get a real improvement best bet is to get a new mouse i think! I mean if you want a real gaming mouse get something like this:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Gaming_Mice.html

Any one of them would be great! Myself fim thinking of getting a:

Logitech MX518 Gaming-Grade Optical Mouse - Retail (KB-060-LG)

What ya guys think?

for the equivalent of about £45, i got a wireless mouse and keyboard set, the mouse being the optical laser style. batteries literally last for months in them and they both perform extremely well under all conditions. honestly, there's only so much you can do to a mouse to make it a good mouse. accuracy with movement, pressure-sensitive response...it doesn't go far beyond that. there's a point where you're paying for nothing more than...status.

as long as the mouse is made of decent quality materials and fits your hand well, it won't get much better.

cheap cheap cheap. i got mine from tescos. kboard and mouse, wireless £15. monsters the bats tho. aas in the kboard last about 2 weeks, aaas in the mouse last about 2 hours on bf2. false ecconomymy bats and charger cost me £45 but it will do them in 10 mins and i allways have a spare set.

they work great and there is no lag with them but thats because they are off or on, no sleep mode, you need to press a button to turn them on and the go off after 3mins inactivity. they work for me and the multimedia buttons are great.

back to topic

i use the arm on my leather chair as my mouse mat(spilt beer makes it sticky tho) and that works fine for me.
