hey, im looking for a new intel motherboard. my current is an intel pentium 4, 2.8 ghz. im looking for a 3.2 ghz or better. although im not sure what motherboard is compatible with my sony vaio. all i know is when i bought my new geforce graphics card, it had to be an agp*8 rather than a PCi. if that helps? if anyone could recommend me a motherboard, which will be compatible would be great. and if possible a recommendation from www.overclockers.co.uk

cheers again guys!

You didn't say what socket format your 3.2 would be - Socket 478 or 775.
Just my 2 pennies - If you need to replace your motherboard just so you can get a slightly faster CPU, you'd be much better off getting one of the dual-core processors and an appropriate motherboard. You're going to spend bascically the same amount anyway so why not get better performance? Especially if you are into OCing. There are some Pentium-D mobos, like the Intel BOXD865GSAL or the Asus P5VDC-MX, that will allow you to use your current DDR memory and even an AGP8x card but use a new, 805 or 820 processor. Of course, you don't get the benefit of PCI-E, but at least you get SATA-II for better hard drive performance with the Asus.

(By the way, I'm not a big fan of either Asus or Newegg, but there's a limited selection for what might suit your purposes. Also, I don't know about UK availability, but I'm trying to point you in the right direction.)

Just to try to answer your original question though, look here:
If you have a socket 775 CPU (same as the intel board I mentioned above)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis...SubCategory=280
or a socket 478 CPU
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813135221

-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.

One more thing, what you want to do, get a next motherboard or a next processor. If you want a next processor you dont have to change your motherboard if is upgradable. What is your motherboard model(to find that you can open the case and look for a name and model number on the motherboard.
