Yo, my dad just bought me a 100 spool of TDK DVD-R, and i ran dvd identifier on one, with the following result:
[13:13:20] DVD-R/-RW Medium Detected. Starting Identification...
[13:13:20] ** Initiating LPP Retrieval
[13:13:24] WARNING : DVD-R Dual Layer Detection Is Not Supported By This Drive (No CDZ Read)
[13:13:24] LPP Read Completed Without Errors
[13:13:24] Disc Identification Completed Successfully
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD-R:TTH02]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Disc & Book Type : [DVD-R] - [DVD-R]
Manufacturer Name : [TDK Corp.]
Manufacturer ID : [TTH02]
Blank Disc Capacity : [2,298,496 Sectors = 4.71 GB (4.38 GiB)]
Now, I'm wondering if that warning about dual layer has any affect on me burning ps2 games (non-dual-layer). Also, is this media good to use for burning/playing games? If not, would it be any good to just burn data dvds of my anime to watch later? It's not fake TDK stuff also.
Thanks,
Dan
EDIT: Also, I was wondering if tth02 is the ink they use. if not, what ink is used?
Allthough TDK, usually not v good media, they seem quite good media.
TDK are good for PS2 games I think; but not v good media for DVD. Verbatim or Sony or Tayio Yudne are the best media for dvds.
No just becos your drive doesn't support DVD-R DL burning will have no implictaions on you burning dvd-r's.
I have had very good success with about 300 of those TDKs that have a MID:THH02, all for DVD backups and only about 3 were bad burns, however i only buy TYs and Verbs now.
