im thinking of buying one of these core 2 duo e6600/e6700/e6800, gigabyte 6 quad ga-965p-dq6 mobo, 2gb patriot pc2-6400 ram, 2x 150gb western digital raptorx, 2x 750gb seagate barracuda hdd, directx10 graphics card, creative soundblaster x-fi xtreme music sound card, thermaltake armor va8003 bws case & liquid cooling.. the only thing holding me up is the motherboard, as i want a sli motherboard with 2 x16 pci-e slots & this only has 1x pci-e x16 & 1x pci-e x4.. does anyone know of such a board? any help is appreciated, thanks

thanks guys, but now im in 2 minds about whether to get the asus p5nsli or the gigabyte 6 quad ga-965p-dq6.. i know i said i wanted an SLI mobo, but i like so many things about the gigabyte board, just not the fact it isnt sli or has 2x x16 pci-e slots.. the asus p5w dh does look real sweet though. i like the fact you can do so many things with it even when its switched off..but its crossfire & i prefer nvidia...hmm 3 motherboards, but which one to get :D

Well the thing is youve got to ask yourself do you need sli? I mean its great to have but likeliness is your going to spend a hell of a lot of money or a new direct x 10 graphics card to live up to that system. Now do you really plan o getting 2 of theese? I mean that could really up your budget a hell of a lot!!
Anyways thats gonna be an awesome rig! keep us informed how the build work sout for you!!

ok thanks a lot mate..
a lot of people are saying to wait until after xmas as the parts i want will be cheaper or new & better parts will be available..
but if i don't spend the money on building a pc soon, i'll end up spending it on rubbish instead.
an HDTV or a ps3 (if i could get my hands on one)..
but i don't want that, as i used to be a console addict since the days of the zx spectrum.. i just discovered how great pc's are when i bought my current system 6 months ago..
it only cost me £80, but i had to buy a lot of parts for it as
there was only 256mb ram, 20gb hard drive, onboard graphics
& no speakers or keyboard/mouse/webcam etc..
ive since added 2gb corsair twinx xms ddr400 pc3200 ram, 250gb samsung sp2504c sata hdd, geforce 6600 256mb agp, harman/kardon soundsticks II, logitech cordless keyboard/mouse & logitech webcam..
there was also no cooling at all, not even a case fan..
so i bought a case fan, hard drive cooler with 2 fans & an antec case exhaust..
all in it cost me about £450 for the parts..
£530 counting the pc..
i like the look of the 2 asus motherboards & the gigabyte so i may get one of those with the core 2 duo, dunno..
any help is appreciated, thanks

the thing you want to remember is that 2 cards(sli or xfire) doesnt double the performance it gives you about 140% of the single card. another thing is vista will ship with dx10 and the cards (g80s and x600s) will blow everything available today miles out of the water(128 pixle pipelines, the max today is 48, its somthing to think about).
sorry the 2 boards i posted are both xfire ones but i, if i had the money, would get the asus p5w dh deluxe and a Radeon X1950 XT-X as they both have more features than you could shake a stick at.

hmmm, thanks for that..
what would the performance be with the asus p5w dh deluxe
motherboard & 2 x1959 x- tx, with the core 2 duo e6700 &
liquid cooling?
would it perform better than 2 geforce 7950 gx2 & a nvidia
chipset board?
or would i be better waiting for dorectx 10 befor buying a card?
thanks for the help
