Hey folks..

I was looking into newsgroups as an alt to using E-Mule or BitComet or Azureus. I read many spots in the forum where people mention to go use: http://www.newzbin.com/ ... Um, can I ask why? I guess no one said "free group"...but isn't that the allure of using P2P programs? I went there, and I signed up, to only find I couldn't download anything without paying money. I figured nothing was free, and I was considering uploading to share, but that wasn't an option to receive 'credit'.

Anyone know any good user groups that are free?

send me an email -- [email removed] -- in case if you cannot post on the forum about this...(not sure.)

Anyhow.... anyone know more about this?

I'm pretty sure there aren't any "Free ones" in a way.Newsgroups are faster than bittorent(Im not really sure why some one else can fill you in) But check your ISP some ISPs give you it for free(probubley a couple gig limit) while others will make you pay. AS I hear from other people if you can afford it I would get it.

Also i would remove Email as its against the rules.

Newzbin isnt Newsgroup/usenet actually. Newzbin is nothing more than an idexing site (indexes and lists the posts made to the newsgroups on a particular Newsgroup/usenet server)

Newzbin charges for the priviledge of them doing all the work for users as since the site catalogs and lists almost all the posts made to the Newsgroup/Usenet servers Newzbin connects to.

Usenet/Newsgroups themself are FREE, your ISP probably already offers you access to em. But your gunna probably connect to your ISPs server or if your lucky a halfway decent secondary Usenet server, wind up getting the Usenet posts raw (in their native Usenet state : as Usenet posts w/ headers)

So anyway, those of us that chose to use sites such as Newzbin pay for the priviledge of having Usenet/newsgroup scoured, searched and indexed for us.
