Hi,
just installed from Dark_Alex the 2.71 SE-B Firmware, i can say,
i have never seen a better Solution for the PSP.
Now my PSP is running on Firmware 2.71 SE-B (show's up in the system info menu like that), i can put ISO files in my ISO folder on the memory stick and i can run them without Devhook :)
Also i have a recovery menu and all the benefits of 1.50 and 2.71
Outstanding piece of Software.. I only can recommend..

Installation takes you bout 5 minutes, really easy, readme is in the archive, follow it step by step, it is so easy, nothing can go wrong. Every Homebrew will work with this release, because you have Firmaware kernel 1.50 with the fetures of the firmaware 2.71 in the flash then. I have installed all my homebrew here and did not find a single proggy that was not working proper till now.
absolutly without headacht use from my point of view..

With a small prog i changed now my Gameboot to the Prince of persia gameboot. You can basically handle your PSP like it is a 1.50version while running in reality a 2.71 SE-B. All Homebrew's and everything starts as usual, the Wireless Lan is working perfect, the Browser is running cool, you can change backgrounds and all with 1.50 system features..
No doubt, there is no need for Devhook or something else..

You know the cool thing in my opinion is, that you can format the mem Stick anytime without having to setup everything new, now the firmware can do what Devhook had to do, also you save about 14MB of space and messy folders. I like it clean..

First of all there is no need tho change ISOS, because every single game ist listed like homebrew. No mor showing up in the UMD Icon ;)
Second, you can install a version of Devhook if you like, so your USB Feature does not get lost :)

At last someone speaking English I understand!! A quick question to you. I have a PSP (formerly 2.60) now running 1.50 & devhook 0.46 (installed from the ultimate 1.1.1 installer). If I load this Dark Alex 2.71 SE-B I assume that my PSP firmware will be updated to 2.71? I see there is a version of this installer (the full one) that includes DevHook, so that sounds a better install, though if SE-B allows you to run ISO off the memory card, what would you use DevHook for? ALSO, if I install only the SE-B, can I erase eveything off my memory card once the install is finished? Alsod, do I need to have a UMD in the drive to play ISO off the memory card? So many questions, so little time. Thanks

Hi, as explained the basis you have to start is 1.50.
There is no need for any devhook then, but some people like devhhok very much, i have tested all my iso's here and all where working fine, also critical isos like Key of Heaven.
No need to install a Devhook, you can if you like, but basically i do not see any sense in this.
Only take care of following:
1st create after install a ISO directory on your root
then put your iso's there. You will not be able to stop smiling :)
Schöne Grüße :)

i forgot to mention,
you still need a UMD to play, yes. But the original UMD can be started by the UMD Icon, and where you usually see your Homebrew, there are the ISO Files.
Till now only ISO and CSO is working, so for DAX you need Devhook too.

IF i want to play DAX games on the psp with se B. then can i use the dax 0.62 to play it on 2.71 se B?
what about the firmware dumps we needed for mph game launcher?
and what about the games like GTA LCS?
will they all be playable thru the homebrew icons?
will there be still those corrupted icons?.
if i go for it how can go back to my original 1.50?

thanks for the info - I think I'll install both the 2.71 SE-B plus devhook package, just to add flexibility. Do you see a time when we will be able to run ISO from the memory card without the need for a UMD game inserted?
Thanks

While booting up your PSP and you Hold R you get in menu where you can switch off the corrupted Icons.
For Playing Dax Games you should use DaxZIso or Devhook for now.
GTA LCS, i can not help you there, when you make it a ISO it should run.
You need firmware dumps and only one launcher for DAX files, but i suggest anyway to convert them all to CSO.
To go back to 1.50, but i promise you will not do that, you put some files from the recovery directory in the installer on the PSP, start up by holding R and start a flash.

P.S.: I guess anyway it is a good idea that people have to buy at least one original UMD. At least most guy's just download and enjoy not thinking about the guy's who programm the stuff and have to feed children perhaps...

Install 2.71 SE-B with DevHook (2.71)

the first one means install firmware se-b with the devhook port for 2.71. the devhook port was made for specifically for 2.71 and only works on 2.71.
the second means install firmware se-b yet again, but this one u get the devhook that works for 1.5 that also has the gui mod. plus it also installs the 2.71 firmware files for emulation.
