OK I'm a noob. So I used the auto installer from the link in this forum and installed 2.71SE-B, rebooted, then install the recovery option. Nice easy auto installer and saves screwing around
1. I can't see 2.71 SE-B in the sys info - just 2.71 which is what is was. What should I see?
2. I can't get the recovery menu up. I reboot (holding power for 4-6 secs until light goes out right?) then turn on with Rbutton held. Nothing. Makes me think the firmware is unchanged.
3. I can't see my iso games uner games memory stick- just devhook launcher for 2.71 and 2.71 se-B install - plus a load of corrupted data icons. The iso is under (root)\iso
I have checked and don't have the TA-082 motherboard. The machine still functions. Note that I don't know my way around the PSP that well as I've had it two days. I have spent a long time searching this forum but I just can't make my iso's workAny help greatly appreciated.

first of all, you need to be on 1.50 to install 2.71 SE-B. You said I can't see my iso games uner games memory stick- just devhook launcher for 2.71 and 2.71 se-B install. if you were on 1.50, you would need to launch the 2.71 se-B install. You can't because you are on 1.50. The auto installer was installing it onto your memory stick fo you to launch and install on the actual PSP.

Thankyou - that explains it. I actually bought two of these for my kids in China - with 1.5 already installed. Brought them home- gave the kids a genuine game each to start them off and unknown to me the game installed 2.71 over the top. Yes it warned them but kids are kids
So now I guess I have to take them back to 1.5 again. Found a good thread here how to do it. But the plus is as I see it that I can install 2.71 se-B then and the console will be much friendlier for noobs who want to play ISO games yes?

yeah, the ISOs appear under Game>Memory Stick so your kids could just launch them. Incase you don't know what to do, you need to go back to 1.50 and then upgrade to 2.71 SE-B. Good Luck!

Thanks. I'm going to use Dark_Alex's 2.71 to 1.5 downloder but I need a little bit of code from a 1.5 machine. Can anyone help?
The details are
Instruction for the 1.50 user
-----------------------------
1) Copy the folders downhelper and downhelper% from the folder 1.50 HELPER folder to
/PSP/GAME/ in your memstick.
2) Obtain the 1.50 updater and put it in /PSP/GAME/UPDATE in your memstick.
Some download links for it:
http://www.psphacks.net/files/PSPFirmwares/1.5/
3) Init the downhelper program.
It will dump your flash and some files from the updater eboot to the memstick.
4) After that, the program will exit. You can now delete the updater from /PSP/GAME/UPDATE
5) You'll notice that you have a new folder in the root of your memstick called "DOWNDATER".
That's the folder you'll have to send to a 2.71 to let him use the downdater.
If anyone can help email me the folder to tony(nospam)@timeless.net.au - remove (nospam). And I can't see I've broken forum rules by posting this but if I'm wrong please let me know!

I now have 2 psp on 2.71s-eb working brilliantly. Kudos to the genius's who wrote the software, the very tidy updaters and to those who helped me
Downgraded both back to 1.5 with Dark_Alexs easy downgrader, then took the up to 2.71s-eb. BrillianT! And the iso's appear as games!
Now if only I could lock the firmware to stop the kids undoing it...
thanks for all the help - friendly forum especially with bloody noobs!!!!

Hi, I don't know if this link takes you to the same autoinstaller as I found but I am having problems with 2.71SE-B now.
I've just installed 2.71SE-B using Chaoszeros auto installer.
http://pspupdates.qj.net/2-71-SE-B-Installers/pg/49/aid/70730
Upgrade seemed to work but......just tried some of my ISOs that used to work fine on V1.5 with eloader0.7 and they don't work.
One is FIFA_Soccer_USA_PROPER_UMDRIP_PSP-DieSeL.iso
another is Namco_Museum_JAP_PSP-NONEEDPDX.iso
And some others too, infact all that I have tried.
Get error message "The game could not be started. (80020321).
Does anyone know what this could be ?
Am really stuck !!
