when I try to update Nero 7, the error message tells me it can't find a file called npsu.dll. In the path where update is looking, there is a file called nps.dll, but that's not what the update engine is looking for.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a fix?

I cant help really but you can try this, uninstall, run this clean tool, http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html and then try for a fresh install

I don't seem to have that file either. It may be associated with an uninstall application or left over from some previous install.

If you want, there appears to be a file called nps.log.txt. You might open it with notepad and see what it is telling you. The file might be quite long, so look at the bottom for the last entry and perhaps post it. I don't know if I can help, but I might see something.

C:\Documents and Settings\your user\Local settings\temp\nro.log\log

Doing a search would probably be the easiest and it is in a hidden folder so you will have to set the view folder options for that.

Reinstalling after using the clean tools and the registry cleaner, as suggested, would probably help.

Thanks for your help. The logfile is not very helpful, the setup program seems to look for one dll contained within another:

Bizarre to say the least. Then it repeats itself and claims to not find the file that DOES exist:

I notice that you seem to be trying to start SetupXu.exe instead of SetupX.exe. I suppose the npsu.dll goes with the SetupXu.exe. You might want to check your properties for the path to the program and see if it is the same as mine. Of course the exact path may vary, but the end program should be the same. The lower one appears to be yours from the log.

I don't know why it would be looking for a U, except something was left over. You might check your registry for such a file or program. I did find the nps.dll but no npsu.dll. If you are using an international version, or something like that, it might be different also.
