I know, this goes against Sony's profit BUT they made the decision to constantly limit the potential of the PSP with each release of their firmware SO I say EF them! You as the consumer should have the best version of their hardware/software.

If you just bought a PSP:
- make sure it does not say this when you open up the the UMD hatch:

- Check your Firmware. Make sure it is NOT 2.71 or higher. 2.71 is iffy if its a factory install( ie. brand new PSP)
- If your PSP is brand new unless it has been sitting on the store shelf for awhile its gonna have 2.71 or higher

If any of the above are true. I suggest getting your money back FIRST. Go to EB, Software ETC, GameStop (any place that sells USED PSPs) and confirm the following:

- its NOT a TA-082 motherboard
- the firmware is 2.6 or less (preferrably 1.x)
- physical condition is all up to your standards

Buy the best one, hell be picky, most places like gamestop and eb do have refurb warranties and youll save yourself around 50$+

Lastly, please no flames. I know to most people that frequent these forums, that this info is well known, but its not if youre brand new and dont know what to look for.

common sense, it's stickied at the top, but okay anyway, newbies don't always pay attention, maybe they'll find this easier, oh and i must be god cuz i got access to 3x Factory 1.5 PSP's :) they're at a local merchant. brand new, never opened.

i bought 2 in february and those were both factory 1.5 spiderman2 movie bundles, and then the core pack i bought in August was a 2.5 w/o TA-082......heh well emachine said
