Bought a used referb psp, box didnt say anything. But firmware says 2.60, am I ok to downgrade??

Hey everyone, Sorry if this has been asked alot, I read through as many guides as I could, but they all say to look at the box when you buy it to see what it has. Mine has 2.60 firmware, is that all that matters? It is possable to downgrade if I get GTA:LS and all the tools (which I will read up on) I want to make sure I got a good unit before, or if I need to trade it in on another unit.
Please let me know asap if I am ok or if you need any other info. because I read there might be motherboard issues as well?

check the motherboard. for the stamp IC1003 right hand corner, or well any stamp there is a no no. there's a thread stickied on identifiying the mobo you've got. u don't need GTA:LS u can upgrade to 2.71 and use the downgrader for that firmware, just have to make sure it's not a TA-082 Motherboard.

but if you have LBC (unpatched) use that its easier as it will execute on first try thus less waiting time and less aprehension!

2.71 is EZ to downgrade just run the easy downgrader it does it all automatic for u

Alright, I will check the mobo right now. If it is the TA-082, I am screwed and should take it back and try to exchange? If so, is there anything I can look for before I buy one if its a used referb? Serial number on the bottom or anything?

start it up, make sure it's not higher then 2.71 and then open the UMD slot and look to make sure it's not a TA-082 mobo.

One guide said by opening the UMD drive you can see the motherboard number, do I actually have to take the thing apart to see it? and where is it located? on the backside?

no go to the motherboared compatibilty or sumthin like that its a sticy at the top of the page lol it will show u a pic and check if yours is like that

i linked the damn thing.
just open the tray, like your going to slide a game in, then hold at a angle, and u should be able to see if there's text there or not. just goto the link i posted above.

It looks like it says IC6001, but its slightly covered up by a metal bracket.

It also is at 2.60 firmware, so its hackable? If so you say I can do it with OUT GTA:LCS? just takes a bit longer? Because I dont have that.

If im look at the psp screen, i open the drive and look inside with the screen facing down it has the numbers on the right side only slightly covered by bracket.

Yeah if you have any text on the right side of the umd slot where you see your mobo its a ta-082 which means you can do everything a 1.50 can if its 2.71 fw.
