I just downloaded a psp ISO game from a torrent site and all i have are it's files. A bunch of them and two pictures which seem to be the pictures that are at the startup of the game.
I used WinRAR on it and that's what happened. There's also a umb_data.bin file on there also. i tried putting it into my psp folder..but devhook is not able to find it. what should i do?

sounds like u extracted the iso file. WinRAR recognizes iso's so it places the WinRAR icon over them. the first extraction is all u need. itll yield another large WinRAR file

Fix your windoze...
Open up explorer (START >RUN >Type w/o quotes "explorer"> OK)
Click Tools > Folder Options
Click View TAB
Uncheck "Hide extensions for known file type"
Click OK
Now you can see what the file really is. Microsoft in their great wisdom of trying to further make their interface seem prettier has further confused people.
Now you can see the files exension...
if it says *.iso than its an iso good ta go
if it says *.rar or *.zip than open it up in WinRAR (rarlabs.com if you dont have it) once you can open it, read the readme or whatever is included for further info on installing.

many people still get confused with that tho because it still has the WinRAR icon. the best thing to do is change the icon for iso files.

if u know how to do it and speculated that i "opened a can of worms", why not do it yourself.
1.) Open windows Explorer
2.) Click on tools - folder options - then the file types tab
3.) scroll to the file type/extension you want to change.
4.) press advanced button
5.) finally change icon button

my way is easier.. cos you only gave half the instructions
EDIT: I thought I knew what you were talking about... no i just followed your instructions.. ARE you insane? "hey the notepad icon looks familiar, change it to that" LOL... wow! I wish I could lead someone on a path of self destruction. Dude seriously, like I said i get what you are saying but I think thats alittle bit extreme unless you wanna actually back it with a step by step, window by window button by button as I did

WHy would I post instructions on how to change an icon for a ISO file to I dunno god knows what? If youve been a windows user well at least since windows 98 or have an understanding of DOS or file formats. you know ANY windows file ends in 3 alphanumeric characters. Being wise to this is the first thing you should know as a newb. Knowing a file extension lets you know what the file is supposed to be.
My point was Windows XP hides file extensions by default cos M$ thinks everyones too stupid and more into asthetics... OR they wanna be more like apple cos they dont deal with extensions.

WTH are you rambling about. Do you even know what you're talking about. We were talking about changing icon files here. not file extensions.

what PC question are you referring to? You keep modding your posts and now im lost. Dudde shut the hell up I was NOT talking about changing the file extension I was giving instructions SEEING a FILES extension cos by default windows HIDES KNOWN FILE EXTENSIONS.. I was suggesting to turn that off so you can see if its a rar, zip, iso, etc cos when you install WinRAR it has the same ico for 20+ file types. AGAIN! Like I said, making an *.iso file type a certain ICON is all well and good BUT you provided inadequite instructions, and it's a bit far fetched as a fix

Im surprised you did not mention PowerISO, i learned about it from you.
Anyway you can get PowerIso from a torrent site. This changes the icon of .iso files to a Golden Disk which you can instantly open and a menu similar to UMDgen will pop up, there you can compress the iso , delete stuff, burn copy, of save data as .iso format.
