I was recenlty having problems with RSS feeds and uTorrent. Those of you that know (or Dont know), uTorrent has a feed reader built in that enables you the automate the downloads of torrents (i.e. TV shows). Although the RSS Tutorial that uTorrent (which can be found here: http://www.utorrent.com/rsstutorial.php ) does do a perfect job explaining on how to set up your rss feeds, for some reason it was not working for many people.
Here was the problem Most people use tvrss.net to get their rss tv feeds (which is powered by mininova). The feed would do its job, utorrent will read it, the filters would work, and in some cases it would mark the feed as "downloaded", but the problem was, it wasnt.
Unfortunately, uTorrent will read the feed LOCATION, but will not download the feed because it is only the page of the site where the feed is located, not the direct link of the feed. Get it?
How to Fix the Problem Although I love tvrss.net because its ability to make customizable feeds, because of what I stated above, I can't use it with uTorrent.
Pirate Bay to the Rescue http://ThePirateBay.org has had RSS for quite a while, but it wasnt very friendly, up until now! Recently I noticed you can now get RSS Feeds for each Category (which can be found here: http://thepiratebay.org/rss )which will work with uTorrent. Perfect!
For instance: Copy your piratebay feed to uTorrent, then under favorites tab, under the filter line, put in your Show. Then under the feeds, select the pirate bay feed and you are all ready to go.
Things to remember Although thepiratebay works perfect with uTorrent its not a customizable as tvrss.net. So dont worry, if you create a filter and the show you are filtering is not downloaded right away. This is because piratebay only puts the latest 10 shows (or items) on their feed at one time, so be patient!
