well today was like doomsday well latly my pcs been gettin hot and well today while playin warcraft it jus shut down on me and well now it wont turn on now i think it is the power unit im thinking of buying a new tower wit new power unit and jus putin the mother board and other stuff in it do u think it will work im pretty sure it was the power unit cuase it smel abit smoky but im not sure is it possible that because the power unit messed up it could have effected my motherboard ??? please help also my hard drive works fine i tried it on another pc and it seems to b working well only my second partition but the other ones corupt anyway pelase help ^^

Unless you see obvious burn marks on the motherboard or the CPU itself, the only way to know is to try and see, because it depends on how the PSU failed. However, no matter what, get a power supply with a bigger VA or Watt rating.

it is v possible that it has taken other componants out aswel, but at the same time you could be lucky. only way to know for sure is testing.

the generic psus that normaly come in a case are usally a waste of space. if your on a tight budget they can bridge a gap but if you can you are better going with a brand named one.

thanks dude im pretty sure it was only the power units that went out cause it was the power unit that was givin all da trouble well im gona buy a ne tower soon il tell u wat happens l8a and thanks for the help
