I hope you can help me please?

I cannot watch DVD's on my computer. I have a Toshiba Satellite A60 and all of a sudden it's stopped letting me watch DVD's. I've clicked on "my computer and "d" drive" and it shows that there is no disc in the drive, when of course there is. The menu doesn't even come up when a disc is inserted. It's just like there is no disc in there whatsoever. What's strange is that the drive works when I am converting and burning other discs, but playing discs it just does not recognise. Why is this happening and what can I do about it please?
