I have burned games without patching and they work. THe same game I might put on my Harddrive and some would not work until I patched.

I was going to use my harddrive to see if it needed patching before I burned it, but if games burned didn't need to be and the game on the harddrive did, that is not going to tell me anything is it.

My question is "how do I tell if in needs patching or not before I waste a DVD+R.

All the new games need patching, they all have that new security check. I'd just patch everything I burned to be on the safe side. I don't think patching will hurt it...

To download:
1) Connect to IRC using a program called MIRC (from download.com)
2) Connect to an EFNET server
3) Go to channel #xbins
4) Follow the instructions
5) Download what you need from the FTP site
