Just been playing with the new UK release of the Michelle Branch album "Hotel Paper". Interestingly enough the little player that launches on my PC to play the CD fires up Backweb.

Back in my deep and distant past, I went to a Backweb seminar - and one of the things they explained was it was very good at pushing content around in the background, without the user noticing any resource drain (eg bandwidth, CPU, etc).

Anyway.. wonder what it's doing. Details of who's playing what (breach of privacy anyone?!) or is it just used for software updates?
