hey guys i recently ordered (imported) Initial D Special Stage for my ps2 from japan. In order to play it I need a Swap Disk (according to my friend) because its an imported game, and im just curious about which swap disk i should purchase.

this one looks promising:
http://www.modchip.com/ps2/swapmagic.php

but it says it only works with V4, V5/V6, and V7.

so my quesions are.. is this even the right way to play imported games? how can i figure out what version my ps2 is? and will this swap disk work?

im really dying to play this game so ill be waiting for some answers.

BAHAHAHAHA i just found something on that page about checking what version your ps2 is.

EDIT - i have a V9. so i guess this swap disk wont work.. =/

EDIT AGAIN - they linked me to this: http://www.modchip.com/ps2/slidecard.php. and this supposedly works with all versions of the ps2 for another.. 7 bucks it looks like? will this one work?

(hmm that link doesnt seem to be working. after you click the first link, scroll down to where it says "slide card bundle.")

Swap Magic works with ALL versions of PS2, but don't go for the slidecard unless you want to run the risk of damaging your drive tray or laser housing.
In fact, isn't a v9 a slimline anyway? Slimlines cant use the slidecard, there's no disc tray - you'll need a replacement fliptop case or Magic Key set to go along with the Swap Magic discs to boot backups & imports.

no version 9 is the fatty kind. xD and the swap magic i linked to (1st link) only works with 1-7. so i think i have to use the slide card thing. =/
