I was browsing the forums looking for a fix for my diamond vision portable dvd player. The problem was that DVDs wouldnt play. Everything else would work fine but certain DVD's and all of my personal burned DVD's wouldnt work. I didn't find a fix on here but I discovered that other people were having the same problem. Just now I found the problem.
What was happening is there is a small gap between the readable data on the disc and where the laser rests on the dvd player. Over time I guess the player stopped checking the entire disc for data and just checked the resting place of the laser. What I did to fix it was physically move the laser, with the machine off, just a bit. When I did this the data was read and the disc played fine. I dont think moving the laser does too much damage if any at all, and it it way better than not having a portable dvd player.
I have a Diamond Vision DPDV222 portable DVD player but I would consider this fix if your having problems loading dvd's.
