Right, im going to buy some dvd discs to burn dvds with my nec 3550 and play them back in my standalone dvd player. I currently have a pack of ridisc, but theyre not the best.
I have done my own research and have found i can get a pack of 50 for under £9 and sometimes a pack of 100. Its ok if a few out of the packet are duds as i am only usuing them for my own personal use. But like all, i want great media but for cheap prices.
Here is some of the media i have found. They are all 50 packs and dvd - r unless stated. I would just like you to let me know which ones you think will be the best. I am usuing nerovision express 3.
Does it matter if they are 8x or 16x ? As i have been adviced to burn at a low speed.
Datawrite 16x £7
Datasafe 8x Branded MCC 02RG20
Datawrite 8x CMC MAG. AE1
Imation 8x FUJIFILM03
Tuffdisc 8x DVD-R (100 tub)MCC 02RG20
Here is a couple, tihs is the website for all of them. Please could somebody suggest some that would be great, This is for dvds, not ps2 games. http://www.ukdvdr.co.uk/shop/DVD-R-c-260.html
One of the problems with companies such as Imation/Datawrite etc is they use varying quality in disc manufacturers and it's a lottery as to which companies discs you get each time. For example with Datawrite you could end up with MCC discs one day (Verbatim discs) but CMC another day (CMC Magnetics discs)
My 3550 loves Taiyo-Yudens and Verbatims of all flavors. With Taiyo-Yuden, the best advice is to buy the 8x Premium Line and burn at 4x. I use DVD-Rs (TYG02 to be exact) except for DL burning, though some say DVD+R is theoretically better in quality. The one and only caveat with NEC drives is that they don't bitset single-layer, 4.7 Gb DVD+Rs (they DO bitset double-layer discs though). So, if you're going to go the DVD+R route, you might want to flash your drive with the Liggy's and Dee's 1Y6 firmware.
-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.
