I have an HP dv4000 with Sonic burning software and liightscribe dvd burner. I installed the DVD Shrink with DVD Decrypter and recently bought a new Nero OEM version 6 off of ebay and installed it. When I use DVD Shrink to copy a DVD movieand use the burn with Nero option, I don't have an error message. It tells that it was successful. However, when I try to play it on my regular dvd player or on my computer, it appears that nothing was written on the disk. To check if it was my dvd drive, I used both the Nero to write files and also Sonic to write MPEG video files onto a disk and was successful. I also tried to copy the DVD movie with DVD Shrink as an image file then burn it with Nero but no luck eventhough I receive a message that it was a success. I bought the latest version of Nero 7 but I'm afraid to open it up and waste my money if it is not going to work. I also installed DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter on my girlfriends dell desktop in which she has both Nero 6 and Sonic installed. When I use her computer I'm always successful in copying DVD movies including the automatic burn option. Not sure what to do. Could it be my Nero program being an OEM version. Any problems with using Nero 7? Any advice would help. Also, I see from other threads links to the last version of Nero 6 that allowed automatic burn. However, when I click it I'm brought to the Nero website with no option to download the Nero 6 version that was suggested. Any idea on how to get that version. thanks

Try these links they are good and should work, unless you have something blocking the dl.

Not quite sure what you mean when you say you bought Nero 7 but are afraid to open it up...
If you already gave them the $$ then it's yours regardless if you install it or not. If you are running a trial version then you have 30 days. Either way if you have it why not use it?
The OEM version was not a good idea. It is almost always missing the DVD-Video plug-in which prevents burning a DVD.
You can write other file types, as you found out.

Before installing either Nero 6 from the links arnibear provided or installing your Nero 7, run the Nero clean tool to completely remove the OEM.

I'm using the latest version of Nero 7 with no problems. The Nero 6 version is more suited for folks not familar with the program though. Nero 7 really needs a custom install to prevent it from of taking over things. (Nero wants all the file associations, Scout and Nero Home want to manage everything for you)

Thanks to everyone for their advice. I have been out of the country for awhile but I tried everything that recommended. I was able to download the version of Nero from the link provided included using the general clean tool. I also found out that the blank discs that I was using was part of the problem. I upgraded to name brand disk such as HP and phillips and I have no problems with copying my DVDs. I just have one question? I installed the same version of Nero to a desktop that had Nero already installed. The original Nero didn't allow me to burn image files (must have been an OEM version). Once in a while after I create an image file and use Nero to burn, I notice that the burn page doesn't allow me to chose how many copies that I wanted and the burn speed. I end up having to uninstall the program using the Nero clean tool and reinstalling the program. It works for while if I'm just burning several image files but once I leave Nero and do something else such as creating more image files, the problem reoccurs. Any idea why this is happening? It is annoying uninstalling and reinstalling Nero several times. Thanks
