I am burning ISO files with Nero Express. The indicator says that it is burning at 16x and my blank DVD-R are labeled as 16x. But it is taking 50 minutes to burn one ISO file (4.8 GB). It seems that the speed is exactly the same for DVDs rated and and indicated to burn at 4x.

What could be wrong?
Thank you.

It is not recommended to burn at maximum speed, you should try to burn at half the rated disc speed, in your case 8X...this of course depends also on the quality of the disc...I always burn at 4X.

Ok fine.. but what happens when I burn at 8X but it still burns at very slow speed? This happens with several brand name (not brand x) DVDs.

Sounds like a DMA issue to me. Either it's in PIO or OFF Mode instead of DMA Available or Ultra DMA Mode 5 (4, 2, etc.)

Here How to fix DMA especially if you're experiencing slowness.
