Before you guys rip me a new one, yes I searched. I searched and spent a good 30 minutes reading all the threads and couldn't find a simple answer to my question.
I've got episodes of SNL, CSI, etc that I've downloaded. They are in widescreen format, but obviously not anamorphic.
I recently added a deck to my car that plays DVD's, AVI's, DivX files, etc. If I playback a widescreen video it stretches it more than needed as the file is not anamorphic.
I've got pretty much all the utilities needed to rip DVD's, but I don't know if I have one that will convert files into true 16:9.
My objective is to take the downloaded shows and turn them into real anamorphic 16:9 clips.
Is this possible with individual video clips like the studios do with their DVD's?
vso convertxtodvd that should take care of your problem, you can use the program as a trial but it will leave a watermark on the dvd until you buy the product, hope this helps good luck happy burning have a nice day

I own ConvertXToDVD.
Problem is that it will convert a 300MB~ file into a full DVD, which is not the objective that I'm shooting for.
I just want to re-encode/transcode a single widescreen file into true 16:9.
