I got a used version of Madden 07 from EB Sports yesterday and found that it would not allow me to kickoff and/or do field goals. Other than that, the game works fine.

Any ideas as to why this would happen? Is it possible that because it was a used version, there is something wrong with it?

could be a scratch or something or just a crap game, take it back and swap it.
