I live in the UK and I've previously used Bulpaq Orange 8X DVD-R for copying movies with good results and very few coasters. This DVD seems to be no longer available from most of the UK suppliers (discontinued?).
I'm now looking for an an alternative DVD-R to use because I fancy a change anyway.
Most UK suppliers, including my previous supplier http://www.burn-media.co.uk, seem to have a vast range of discs available and I'm a bit overwhelmed by the choice.
Could I have some recommendations for a good disc please. I'd like a non-printable coloured branded disc with manufacturer's logo with lines on to write the movie title etc (sorry, don't know technical phrase for this!)Are the silver 8X Bulpaq any good?
I'm using a OEM NEC ND3500AG drive with driver version 5.1.2535.0 and no firmware updates. I've not used this drive to burn anything beyond 8X speed, so I don't know if it will be happy with 16X media. Besides, the manual for my Toshiba HDD/DVD Video Recorder (RD-XS34SB) does not say if it will play 16X media, so I don't know if I'd be taking a risk using 16X media. I'd be grateful for any advice on this too.
Hope this might help you in your search for media.Normally Taiyo Yuden media(own brand or under other brand names such as Sony,Fujifilm,Verbatim)is the best and next to it is Verbatim(Taiwan,MCC coded),here's a link where you can find some information how to get some Verbatim(Japan-Taiyo Yuden)as Creaky who lives in UK too used to get his sexy TY Verbatim there.
Bulkpaq Orange 8x -R - there aren't enough foul words to fully explain how much hassle and time those FAKE disks by Bulkpaq have cost me, in the end i had to re-backup literally many hundreds of movies from the originals due to horrific data corruption. This was exhibited in playback, recopying and via various scan tests. Read the first few posts here and thank your stars that Bulkpaq Orange 8x -R only exist in rubbish tips and not on sale to the public -

As Vincent has pointed out, us UK'ers can indeed get very reasonably priced top notch discs such as the 'ultra sexy' 'Verbatim TY' which are Taiyo Yuden discs (made in Japan no less) with the proverbial and professional Verbatim matte top finish, from http://www.svp.co.uk
