I've spent the past few days looking at all the guides. However, I'm still not too clear on the offspec dvd's. How would I create one of these discs. And how easily playable are these on most dvd standalones out there? The problem I'm having is that I'd like to convert some tv show seasons that are in DivX / apple mp4 that would fit on a single dvd r in it's current format to hopefully a dvd that would play on standalones and not require that many discs.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that instead of the traditional methods, I'd like to encode in a lower resolution since it currently isn't that high anyway, and I figure I'd save more space this way than using higher compression at the conventional resolutions. I think this is called xdvd or kdvd from what I'm reading? Anyone have a specific guide that they like for this? I've done a bunch of experimenting with misc. guides but so far have just been wasting time with no good results.
