Basically, ta-082 psp's cannot be downgraded below 2.5 fw. You can however, emulate lower firmwares using HENC and Devhook. If you look on the motherboard when you open the umd and you can read IC1003, than your psp is a ta-082.

so i cant downgrade but i can run a dev hook? so its just like downgrading but its not? what are the disadvantages of this? (and yes i do have a ta-082)

well, you need to have a 2.71 to run HENC and Devhook. The disadvantages are that you emulate 1.5 (with can launch all homebrew)from the 1.5 you need to launch the Devhook for 1.5 to emulate 2.71. This is to play ISOs.

@Frankie27: Or you could just go directly to 2.71 to play iso's. Only thing I don't like, is that henc never runs in the emulated 2.71..(to go to 1.5 from the 2.71 emulation)

^^That sucks man, my only advice is to stay at 2.8 firmware, don't upgrade.
