Okay, I've got two 700 MB AVI files which are two parts of a movie. I've never burned a DVD before, I've got Nero 7 and want to use Nero Vision 4 for the first time.
I followed the guide steps and also merged the two files. Is that necessary or unnecessary when you have multiple parts of one movie?
The other question is - Is it normal for 1.4 GB of data to turn into 5.2 GB of data in this process? If it is normal, my calculations seem to show that movies longer than about 110 minutes would have to burn onto Dual Layer Disks.
Finally, I wanted to make a fancy background like in the guide, using an actual poster from the movie. But the poster is centered and interfers with the menu button that I assume will activate the movie. Is there a simple way to move the poster over to the right so that the button is not obstructing the picture - and is there a guide on how to make a nice background like the one made by the guide author?
As far as the encoding question, yes the sizes you gave are about correct, keep in mind, mpeg is a much larger file type than AVI. You can fit longer movies than that on a single layer disc, but you're going to lose quality, what I've done in the past with things like that is use my dvd author, and create an ISO, then compress the iso to fit on a single layer disc using DVD Shrink, as it can reencode without too much loss of quality.
