Hi, I just got a new nec 3550a burner. we installed it the same as the previous burner. the computer won't recognize it. when i try to add new hardware, nothing happens. i bought an oem burner so i got no information with it and i am very new to the computer world. i read that if it is recognized by the computer, windows will install the appropriate drivers. Help!!!1

DANI 1ST SUGGESTION CLEAR YOUR CMOS PULL THE LITTLE WATCH BATTERY ON YOUR MOTHERBOARD FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES IF THAT DOSENT DO THE TRICK TRY DOWNLOADING AND INSTALLING EVEREST HOME EDITION AND SEE IF IT RECOGNIZES IT IF STILL NOTHING THEN UNBOLT THE DRIVE AND CHECK THE JUMPER SETTINGS AFTER THIS YOU MAY HAVE A FRIEND TRY TO HOOK IT UP AND SEE IF HIS PC RECOGNIZES IT IF NOT YOU GOT A BAD DRIVE BUD

Did you put the burner into a Dell computer? If it's a Dell the jumper on the drive should be set to Cable Select.
