I did a quick search over the forums but couldn't find anything concise enough, so I would like to know, what is (by and large, and links to other threads are fine) the best accepted method for converting tracks purchased from the iTunes music store (DRM?) into mp3s or something else?

open itunes, click on the video, right click, then click on "convert selection for videos"

and it should do it. might take some time but it works.
