USB DVD-ROM Hangs on playback

I have this strange problem with my PC. I've just installed a new USB 2.0 PCI card VIA 6212l on my Intel D850GB motherboard, because, the mobo only comes with a USB 1.1.

I've installed all the drivers and there seems to be no problem when I check the Device Control Pannel but strangely when I plug-in my USB DVD-ROM in it, it will detect and play but after 1 minute it will hang and I have to unplug it and plug it bag again. The same thing will happen again.

I'm running a Windows XP Pro SP2.

Does any body else have ever experienced this problem ? Please kindly shed some light to this matter...
