Is PSP good for multimedia?

Recently i am thinking of getting an MP3 player. My price range is about $200. I came across a few players that i like. It first start with me wanting a portable music player, then i saw a few in my price range that can do video too. Then i thought of since the PSP is good for game, video, and music too maybe i should get that. I did some research on the PSP's features (including downloading games), seem like the PSP is poor for video and audio. Also i need to do some firmware downgrade to be able to play certain video and home brew games. I just want to ask you guys for some feed back. Let me know what you think of the PSP as a multimedia player. Thanks.

playing videos are somthing the psp is SUPPOSE TO DO. which means that the higher the firmware the better it can play the video. as in more features are added so if u downgrade then mybe you'll lose some features on watching videos and play less formats on the psp. i dont kno where u got the point of how the videos and the audio of the psp is poor but it sounds pretty good to me. and lastly. homebrew (downloads of games and other stuff). wen u use the psp as homebrew which it isnt originaly suppose to do then yea. the lower the firmware the better becuz less security and easier to hack.
